CSA - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Traditionally, a CSA is a mutually beneficial way for local farmers and community members to help one another. Participating members benefit by receiving local, freshly harvested, long-lasting produce. The farmer benefits by receiving consistent monetary support (through the community member’s continued CSA subscription) throughout the growing season. The farm can better align supply with demand, growing a calculated amount of food to meet the needs of the community and thus reducing food waste! CSA memberships help to promote greater food security in our state, preserve farmland, and develop greater bio-diversity. It is a win-win!

Our members experience peace of mind knowing that they are guaranteed a share of safely produced vegetables and fruit. Blue Sky produce happens to be known as the best produce around…and it’s 100% Certified Organic! It doesn’t get any better than this.

How does the CSA Farm Box subscription work?

Our CSA is an online subscription-based program that provides you a weekly or bi-weekly Farm Box of organic produce. We offer two different size Farm Boxes; Classic (6-7 items - $26) or Petite (4-5 items - $17.50). The Farm Boxes offers a range of pre-selected, certified organic produce items. The produce is selected by our team and represents the best of our daily harvest. Supporting your local farm means eating seasonally!

Once you create a Login Account, shop for a subscription. Choose your preferred pick up location under the drop-down beside "Choose your location." Then select your preferred Farm Box size and your delivery frequency (weekly or bi-weekly).

Lastly, you will proceed to checkout. Once your order is placed, we will confirm your subscription. Your subscription will then auto-renew per the delivery frequency you chose (weekly or bi-weekly).

How do I see the contents of my CSA Farm Box?

Once you log in to your account, at the top of the overview page under the words, "Current Shopping Period Overview," you'll find your box contents for that week.

How do I receive my CSA Farm Box?

Simply go to your chosen pick up location during the time frame allotted for pick up. A Blue Sky Team Member will assist you in finding your name on the sign-in sheet, signing your name, and grabbing you the appropriate box. Only boxes with add-on items will be labeled with the CSA member's name. If you have add-on items that are not produce items (e.g. pasta, nuts, beans, dairy, jam, honey) they will be separate from your box and the Blue Sky Team Member will provide them to you.

You are responsible for picking up your CSA Farm Box during the provided pick up day and time. All Farm Boxes that have not been picked up during the allotted day and time will be donated to St. Mary's Food Bank. If you missed your pick up but you still wish to receive your box that week, please contact our CSA Manager at csa@blueskyorganicfarms.com to schedule a different pick up time.

Can I add items to my CSA Farm Box and when can I order them?

You can shop for add-on items through our online market! Once logged into your account, simply select the "Product List" tab to view what we currently have available. Select the correct sub-period. Note: Noble Bread is separate from our other produce/grocery add-on items. Add the items you wish to receive into your cart and we will provide them with your next CSA Farm Box!

The Order Period opens at 10:05am the Friday before your delivery week. You have until your order deadline to make edits to your order. The order deadlines are 8am, 2 days before your delivery.

IF YOU ARE A BI-WEEKLY SUBSCRIBER: Do not place an order for add-ons prior to the Friday before your delivery week. If you place your order too early, the add-ons will not be associated with your subscription box and thus not fulfilled. When you log in to your account, on the overview page, make sure you are selecting the shopping period associated with your delivery date. You'll see at the top of the overview page if it is a bi-weekly week or not.

To ensure delivery of add-on items the same week, place your order by:

Can I change the location, delivery frequency, or size of my CSA Farm Box?

These actions must be done by our CSA team. If you want to change the location, delivery frequency, or size of your CSA Farm Box, please contact our CSA Manager at csa@blueskyorganicfarms.com. These requests must be submitted no later than your order deadline (8am, 2 days before your scheduled delivery). If the requests arrive after the order deadline, we will be unable to honor the request for that week. The requested changes will go into effect the following week.

Can I place my CSA Farm Box on hold or cancel that week's box order?

Our system has 2 options for skipping a delivery. If you know far in advance, for example, that you'll be out of town for a period of time, you can place a HOLD on your account. To place your box on hold, log-in to your account and select "Subscriptions" from the left-side column. This will show you your active subscription. Select "Create Hold," choose your desired hold dates, and you're all set! These holds need to be put in place 11 days prior to the pick up date.

If you need to skip a box pickup after the 11-day window passes, you will need to CANCEL your weekly order after it has been added to your account.  We will add your box order for the following week every Friday at 10am when the ordering period opens. To cancel a box order, log-in to your account and select "Overview" from the left-side column. Under your delivery date, you'll select "View Order." From there, you can choose to cancel that one box order. This does not cancel your subscription.

Once your order deadline passes (8am, 2 days before your delivery), you can no longer cancel that week's box order and you are responsible for payment and pickup. Boxes that are not picked up will be donated to Saint Mary's Food Bank.

The Farm will not be responsible for placing Farm Boxes on Hold. This action must be completed by the member. However, if you are having difficulty completing this action please contact us as soon as possible.

Why does my order say "Unpaid"?

Our new system does not automatically charge your credit card when you place your order. Instead, orders are processed once the order deadline has passed. This includes weekly box orders. This means you can make edits to your order up until the order deadline. Did you want to add some cheese that you originally forgot? Not a problem. Did you order too many carrots and you know they're going to go to waste? You can remove orders as well! Just make sure you're done editing by 8am, 2 days before your delivery.

How do I know when my next order pick up is?

If you selected a Weekly CSA Farm Box Subscription, you will receive a box every week unless you place a hold on your account or you cancel that week's box. If you selected a Bi-Weekly CSA Farm Box Subscription, when you log in to your account, at the top of the overview page under the words, "Current Shopping Period Overview," you'll find a notification saying whether or not it is currently a Bi-Weekly week.

You can also select "Subscriptions" from the left-hand menu and then click on the name of your subscription. This will provide you a summary of your subscription and you can see if you've successfully placed a hold on your account.

What happens if I do not pick up my CSA Box on time?

You are responsible for picking up your CSA Farm Box during the provided pick up day and time. All Farm Boxes that have not been picked up during the allotted day and time will be donated to St. Mary's Food Bank. If you missed your pick up but you still wish to receive your box that week, please contact our CSA Manager at csa@blueskyorganicfarms.com to schedule a different pick up time.

If your pick up location is a third party business/organization, they are not responsible for storing your CSA Box. Most third party locations will donate unclaimed CSA Boxes. They may hold onto your CSA Box, but we are not responsible for their storage conditions and your produce may not be stored properly, resulting in less-than-stellar veggies.

There are no refunds, credits, or exchanges for unclaimed CSA Boxes.

What if I want to cancel my subscription?

If circumstances require canceling, this action must be completed by an Administrator. Please call the office and ask for the CSA Manager (623) 853-9174. Or, you can send an email to CSA@blueskyorganicfarms.com There are no refunds, credits, or exchanges for unclaimed boxes (aka boxes that were not picked up within the allotted pick up time and pick up location).

The cancellation request must be received before the order deadline of your next delivery. What does this look like? If you receive a Farm Box on Friday, the cancellation will need to be requested no later than 8am on Wednesday. Or, if you receive a Farm Box on Saturday, the cancellation request will need to be received by 8am on Thursday.

If the cancellation request is not received within this time frame, the subscription cancellation will go into effect the following week and the next scheduled delivery will occur. Thank you, for abiding by this policy and working as a community to create an efficient and pleasant CSA experience!
